South Carolina continues to be at the top of the nation for cases of domestic violence, and has been so since data first started being analyzed over 20 years ago. South Carolina also continues to be classified as one of the deadliest states for women. Almost 50% of women in South Carolina report being victims of sexual violence. Charleston is a metropolitan with 3 college campuses, hotbeds for sexual violence, within a less than 20 mile radius of eachother. Legislation is not quelling the numbers. It is our hope that when members of the community see survivors thriving, they too will stand in opposition of violence against women and have a hand in reducing the numbers.
